Although the princess adored Finn, he was a terrible conversationalist, and even though Marceline was one of the few girls she could call a friend in confidence, the vampire did little more than push Bubblegum’s buttons for entertainment and it wasn’t a past time she appreciated. She liked to convince herself that that was why she preferred Fionna’s company; a heroine who could look her in the eye without tripping over herself, and a friend who always respected her boundaries. 

Bubblegum ignored the fact that the blonde girl was also terrifyingly pretty and made her stomach knot and her lips to become useless mounds of gummy flesh incapable of forming articulate sentences.

She wondered if this is how Finn felt all the time and suddenly had a new found respect for him.
