“It doesn’t look the same,” Quinn says, her hands hovering over the hem of her shirt. Her fingers are trembling, teeth chewing at the inside of her lower lip and Rachel has never seen her look this nervous, this scared. “I’ll never look like I did before Beth. It’s scarred. It’s … gross.”

The brunette sits up, raising her hands to show her intentions before Quinn gives a short nod of permission. Slowly, as if she were trying to not spook a skittish animal, Rachel settles her hands on Quinn’s narrow hips. She watches Quinn’s eyebrows give tiny flickers of discomfort as her fingers slip just beneath the edge of the shirt. She finds the tiny dip of the blonde’s bellybutton and draws a small circle.

“You created a life,” Rachel says, her voice breathy in her throat, before she suddenly lets her knees bend. Quinn takes a step back, staring down at her in surprise as the shorter girl pushes Quinn’s shirt higher. Rachel can see the white, fading lines of where Quinn’s stomach had stretched to accommodate for Beth’s body. She smiles fondly and traces one with her fingertip. “That’s beautiful, Q.”

 A barely audible gasp makes Quinn’s chest swell. Rachel kisses the girl’s stomach and feels it quiver beneath her mouth.

“You’re beautiful,” Rachel emphasizes, and when she looks up, Quinn’s eyes are squeezing shut and her eyelashes are damp. Straightening her legs, Rachel finds the other girl’s lips and kisses them, too.
